Landscape Art of the Sea of Galilee
Matthew 6:26 - "Look at the Birds of the Air"
Jesus Christ - The Sermon on the Mount
In this sweeping landscape painting, Jesus is sitting on a hillside overlooking the Sea of Galilee, and pointing to birds flying across the sky, with an attentive audience behind him. One can imagine the audience numbering many and stretching far back into the field. Jesus is next to a road, as a reminder of the many miles that He walked during His ministry. On the far right side, at the water's edge, one can make out a small village. The focus of this painting is on the essence of the moment when Jesus says in Matthew 6:26: "Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?"
